Just guessing here, but in a touring car Glenn Seton with a John Sidney Engine holds th e record I think with 300 K's or close to it. Non Touring Car, Keith Carling in that awesome Nissan 300ZX got over 300 K's I'm sure.

Used to be Bill Brown in the Sucderia Veloce Ferrari P3 for years, and then Glenn Seton craked it for 300km/h in the EL... I think Keith Carling's got it now though.

Niel Allen held the fastest lap with a 2.09-something in 1970, which was scary-fast. Murph's 2.06-something, with the addition of Clatex Chase is fast-scary!

There are so many stories which add to the Bathurst mystique and legend: KB's pole in 1981 (I'm going to get hold of a copy of that one day!), Murph's big lap; Niel Allen; Bill Brown; Ian Geoghegan, who in unofficial practice in 1977, eclipsed the eventual pole time to the tune of three seconds; Dick on the charge; LP in the wet in 1994 (oh, that exquisite throttle balance). The frightening accidents: Dick's adventures in 1980, 1983 & 1993; Bill Brown, John Keran, Garry Leggatt, Tony Roberts, Rod McRae to name but several, who were damn lucky to come back from the Hill.

So many stories...

The official speed was Glenn Seton in the #30 Ford Credit Falcon with 302 kph being recorded, during the top 10 shootout, with Seto scoring his second and, hopefully, not last pole, with his helmet strap flapping in the breeze, which he got a reprimand for.
