You can't blame him for accepting an offer, especially if he's not doing much else... there are that many of the old legends who changed allegiances on the basis of taking or keeping a drive... Ian Geoghegan, Bob Jane, Norm Beechey, Colin Bond, Allan Moffat, Allan Grice, Jim Richards, Dick Johnson, Peter Brock, Bob Morris, Mark Skaife, Glenn Seton (he got his big break in Dattos, remember), Craig Lowndes, John Bowe (drove a works Swedish Valiant!), Brad Jones (an ex-HRT stalwart), Tony Longhurst, Larry Perkins (well, he co-drove a Mustang a couple of times!), John French, Jason Bright, Steven Richards... to name but a few...
I can't say that I was ever Seton's biggest supporter in the first place... while his 1986-7 form stirred up the race fans of the day (of which I was one!!), there were never a huge haul of results to go with the promise and talent... until 1993 at least... and DJ was still pretty much The King for mine at the time anyway. Good luck to the guy, can't say I'd be dancing in the streets if he actually managed to grab the Bathurst crown he's been waiting nearly 25 years for, but I'd have to concede that it was a bout bloody time...
...but it won't happen if #17 does what I'm hoping for!
