The only time Tander was able to make ground on the straight was when he was in the slip stream. He couldn't pull out and pass Steven, Joe, maybe you should have a look at race 2 when Ingall was following jnr and the DJR Firstrock car pulled away in a staright line. The DJR cars are the pick of the Fords horsepower wise and if they get them to handle, look out everyone else at Bathurst!

One wonders Jase IF DJR are running the D3 engine. If not, look out everyone else when we get the D3 cranked up.

The TWR Holdens definately have a power advantage over the SBR engines. Proof of this was when, in the first race when Todd & CL were sise by side at the top of the straight, by 1/2 way down the chute, Todd had pulled well clear. I'm not sure how well Courtney's car (Which is running the D3 Engine) compared to the TWR unit's, but his & Brighty's BA's were the only one's that could stick with them at QR. So I presume that before to much longer, maybe Bathurst, that we'll see the D3 in the Lowndes mobile & probably RIngall's as well...

I wonder who is doing the engines at DJR these days??? I was talking to Steve Owen at OP on Saturday & I asked him what happened to Alan Draper, formerly of DJR & most recently at PMM, & he said that Draper & PMM (Who do the engines for Autobahn RNR) had parted company at the end of last year & he didn't know where he was these days. I remember when Alan was building the engine's at DJR 94-95 ish & they weren't short of grunt that's for sure. Spose he's not back at DJR by any chance anyone????

While I'm here I must say what a nice bloke Steve Owen is. He was quite happy to talk to us for 20 minute's or so late on saturday. Couldn't quite get him to admit that life was better when he was driving for the blue oval, but he did admit he enjoyed his time at Britek.. Nice bloke, just sad he drives for the enemy....

Ingall & Courtney are using different engineS. Courtney has the new D3 engine & Ingall does not. I just remember watching one shot of both jnr & tander from the side & I saw tander catch up heeps at the end of the straight. Maybe jnr just got a bad run that lap who know..

I guess well find out at Bathurst in a few months time!! Can't wait!

A quote from Phil Branagan in MNews this week " Hmmm...Sandown, Bathurst, long straights, DJR horsepower. Get yer Orange flags ready, Rock fans."

Couldn't have said it better myself!

I know the shot you are talking about Joe, I went back and had a look again myself and it does look like Tander is catching him... until he pulled out of the stream.

one of the reasons that Steve doesn't make too many mistakes also , and it relates to this topic in the regard to the perception that he continually gets caught at corners, is that Steve brakes a tad early , and has a constant braking pressure reading which gets him out of the corner without trouble but may sacrifice a touch of mid corner carried speed , especially when being followed by a desperado who's trying a late braking manouver. Steve just simply drives his own race and doesn't get ruffled by that. And we saw that with slight improvement in car speed this round it works well for him and he doesn't have to resort to weaving or late braking to try to defent position.
