I loved the old speedway ads: " ... and BE THERE!"

It's funny: if you watch the old Bathurst highlight tapes, the first time Mike features is around 1977, and he was a whole lot more restrained then, than he was by the time he retired from commentary duties. His catchphrases: "standin' on the gas", "pedal to the metal down Conrod straightaway", and his persistance in calling Kevin Bartlett "Big Rev Kev" were noweher near as irritating as some of the drivel that the current breed come out with.

Did you ever try the Mark Oastler drinking game, where you take a shot every time Oastler says "maximum pressure drive", or "Skaife on maximum attack" - you'd be blind before the first ad break!

Actually, I'd love to hear Allan Moffat commentating again - even if you hate his accent, he's informative and authoritative

Well i'm sorry but i'm glad he's got nothing to do with it.
About the only thing i liked about him and channel 7 was there oversea's report's during the telecast.
Come on guy's his saying's sucked, No baloney Tony. Big Rev Kev, Peter Perfect, Gentleman Jim, The Baby faced assasin, The Cowangie Kid, and even more than i can remember(should be a new thread to see who can remember them all)
At time's he was uninformed as well.
Admittedly today's bloke's apart from Crompton are a bunch of goose's.
I would like to see Moffat back as well as Barry Sheene how ever i know that's not possible

My fav. "Have we got a race going on herer folks"
Bathurst 79 when Morris taped the Moffat XC
and I loved the interaction betqween him and Gary Wilkinson.

And yes I to would love to hear Moffat again.

But a point that is often forgot: With out Mr Raymond there would be NO supercars.
A little point that I think T.C. sometimes forgets
Mike Raymond for the V8 hall of fame.

You are right J.C Raymond did play a role in it.
Mainly convincing the power's that be that the average Aussie fan wanted V8's
