We all know that DJ ran 2 different Greens-tuf XE's, the 83 car & the 84 ATCC [^] winning #17. We also know that this is probably one of the best looking Touring cars of all time which is stating the obvious!! but...........

Does anybody know how many Pole Positions he achieved driving both versions (83 & 84) of the Greens-tuf XE [?][?] Where & when [?][?][?]

I think that Dick had two pole positions in 1983, at the Oran Park and Sandown AEC rounds.

I don't think Dick had a pole in 1984.

Rob, I don't wana be a pain in the a$$, but DJ ran 3 different Greens-Tuf XE's. The 83 write-off, the ex-Harris overnight rebuild, and the new 84 ATCC machine. I am a stickler for detail :D

Yep, that's close enough SF.

He scored pole at the OP AEC round with the debut of the freshly painted green XE in 83 & while he set equal fastest qualifying time at the 83 Sandown 500 (1.10.7) with Brock & Gricey, Brock had set his time first giving #05 pole & #17 shared the front row..

Close enough..

ROB17, your allowed to be a smart @rse around here. No drama as you are indeed correct!!:D:D

It didn't have a sunstopper on it, but I would have to rifle around deep in the archives to find the coverage book to check on the doorhandle thing.... I don't think they'd let it run without them though... hope to get a chance to check it out this week...

Thanks for the feedback Poita and Henry. Just looked a bit odd in the picture I recieved. Could not really tell one way or the other, I was told the picture was rare as there was not many photos were taken of the car on the Sunday. As It was off the pace of the front runners.

It certainly wasn't... Dick and KB had given it a run on the Saturday arvo, and were a bit underwhelmed. George Shepheard, on the other hand, thought they should've been able to make it into something (he had built that car the year before for Alan Jones... AJ refused to race the thing, as it was a pig - mainly due to the rear suspension, which kept everybody on the wrong foot with the XE - and Bob Morris had given the car its only win, in the Oran Park enduro in 1982... Dick had pitted out of the lead late in the race, and couldn't get back from second place... it had crashed heavily on the Bathurst Saturday in 1982 when a wheel broke and they couldn't pull it straight in time for the race start that year). It ran creditably in 1984 as the Freedom Fence car... at least for a while. Seto drove it once in anger as well IIRC...

That car's current livery is not accurate for the car: I believe that it's painted up as the Greens-Tuf Falcon was prior to Hardies Heroes... and of course, Mk 2 never appeared in period in that guise...
