Announced on the 27th by DJ that #17 will be driven by Steve & Luffy & #18 will be driven by Owen Kelly & David Brabham who returns for his second year with DJR. Good strong combinations in both cars for Sandown & Bathurst so bring it on!! Bit of a bummer for Jose though:(:(, considering his great form this year, but maybe next year with another year of the Konica series under his belt will see him get a ride in one of the Shell Fords.:):)

Will Jose be one of the Konica cars allowed/invited to drive in the main race though? and if so, could DJR run another car?

Hey, never thought of that Rusky & after all it is a totally different team to the main series so I don't see why they can't run Jose in the Fujitsu AU with another driver.

Hi Guys, Steve Chalker emailed this reply to your posts:

Jose will not be running in a DJR car or a Fujitsu car, rules allowing
only 35 cars which means only level 1 and 2 license holders can compete.
Jose may yet secure a drive with another team, we shall have to wait and
see.

Regards
Steve

That's a shame Doug & after seeing his drive at EC on the weekend I do believe he deserves a drive in there somewhere. I presume he will do the Konica race on the saturday at Bathurst???? Also must say what a top bloke Jose is, I took the wife & kids to the Creek on Sunday and went down to the pit & stood at the DJR pits for a while and Jose came out & signed anything & everything for the kids, couldn't meet a nicer bloke. Thanx for the response Doug!

No worries Rob, yes Jose is a nice bloke, and I will find out whether the two cars are running on Saturday - I would presume so.

It's good to have Brabham back, though... I listened to the 18 car (on the scanner) a lot at Bathurst last year, and Brabham did heaps of talking... More then any of the other three drivers, anyway...

*really impressed, i was... :)

Brabham is a class act
He is quite fast and he look's after the car
All we need now is some one to get the real potential out of car 17

Hi Guys, Sorry for the delay - heres Steve Chalkers comments on the Saturday Konica race on the Mount and the Shell Sponsorship:

Yes the 2 Fujitsu cars will be running in the Saturday race. An
announcement on Shell will be made shortly but negotiations are still
underway. Nothing to say at this stage.

Thanks
Steve

Doug, do you think it's getting a bit late with the Shell anouncement? I remember in 2001 when Shell signed on for 3 more years it was anounced at the Clipsal 500 much earlier in the year. Getting a bit worried about the DJR Shell connection continuing past this year.

Rob, to say i am shuffling in my shoes a little is an understatement, however, with Chalks on board, DJR has one of the most capable and shrewd managers in the field so I would say that they have it all in hand.

Sure hope so Doug, just can't imagine DJR without Shell, they go hand in hand. One thing that leads me to believe that Shell will sign on again is that it's hard to believe after all these years of association with DJR that they would leave Dick high & dry & with only basically 6 months to find a replacement sponsor before the start of next year. If Shell were to leave DJR they would have announced it by now!!
