Check the link - that's what it says!
(IIRC it was during the 2 litre 'SuperTourer' days - as further down the page it lists 2 entry's for both '97 & '98)

So, if we scrap the 1998 result (where in fact Skaife/Lowndes were on Pole, but finished 6th) - Since 1967 the Pole Sitter has only gone on to win on 9 occasions from 41 events!! AMAZING!!

Oh yeah. I don't generally think about the 'starter motor 1000' days, as I NEVER watched the 2 litre joke races.

Moffat in 70 & 71 the only Ford driver to go from pole and win the event.[sh]

Twice! (2 of the nine) both times Single Handed too !!!

'onya Marvin - GREAT memories !!! (I was there for both 'Flag -to- Flag' victories)

IMHO - the first 'Professional' driver in OZ!

I'm just as interested in how many have led every lap and won....hmmm 1989 was a good year (As was '79 for Brock I believe).

Quasi, those were the only two true flag-to-flag victories. In Brock's case, the 05 car was never headed... in 1989, 17 merely led across the line every time, having been briefly in second during the first lap.

What's the statistic for cars starting in second position and taking the win, or from the fastest car during Friday practice (since 1978 anyway: HH was first run that year)? Two of Dick's three wins came from second on the grid, although he had been quickest on the Friday in 1981 & 1989 too.

Dicks best win came in 94 from 15th and on the day it was Dick who put the car into the winning position.
That lunch time stint of his was awesome. The times he was belting out put the car into a position that Bowe could go on with it.

IIRC in '94 DJ was quickest in the Saturday morning warm up, by a fair margin and was on a flyer when he clipped the wall at the cutting during the top ten. In the dry that EB was an absolute weapon, as it was at Sandown a few weeks before too! A lap record to DJ aswell during that stint Col!

Those were the days. Probably my favourite year 1994.

Yep, I was at McPhillamy that week, amongst a horde of Holden fans.... the news of Dick's (unofficial) time during the Top Ten warmup had me rubbing my hands in gleeful anitcipation... as Dick punted EB6 up the hill on the timed lap, the big screen opposite our vantage point showed the Racecam footage... and when I saw the jostling that Dick got from the hit on the wall, I knew it was a lost lap. We weren't surprised to see it trailing smokw from the crushed guard... but he still kept the boot in.

Sunday more than made up for it. What a year to be there.

It's a shame that they didn't get a chance for a double in 95 thanks to some one who couldn't cut the mustard

Yeah, I was ropeable!

Still, I was pretty glad to see LP pull it off after flogging the guts out of #11 all day.

Lucky i wasn't there. While Seton was leading i was still remotely interested.
When that engine let go 9 laps out i could have killed the prick for punting #17.
I didn't give a rats arse that he was out. It was the fact that he took out the other fast Ford on the day which in the end cost another Ford victory

Correct, although I count the effort in '89 as after Dick took the lead halfway down Conrod for the first time I believe that was it, and led from then on. Fittingly it was Brock, who started on Pole, that Dick passed....."Johnson's done the disappearing trick from the front of the field."

Yeah, I compare it to 1979 as well, since #17 led every lap.

I was watching the highlights tape again the other night... great memories!

I have 2 hours of the best bits I turned into a DVD, as with '94. I tape it every year and then edit it down to a couple of hours, or so. Last year I recorded the entire race, and still haven't found time to finish editing it(normally stop/start tape as I go and get about 4 hours).

Actually if Al Turner hadn't decided to use un-proven Goodyear race rubber Moffat would have had 3 in a row.

Moffat did all the development work on the Ph1 GTHO suspension.
It had a rear sway bar and the excuberant style of most drivers fried the tyres.
Where as Marvin kept it nice and straight and didn't destroy the tyres.
As the other drivers had tyres problems all day, Moffats tyres were lasting the distance.
Turner bought Moffat in late in the race to check the condition of the tyres and Moffats were still fine.
Turner bringing him in probably cost Moffat his first Bathurst victory
